Machinability study of Aluminium 6082 reinforced with boron carbide and titanium by stir casting method using Abrasive water jet machining process

Abstract Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite (AMMC) has broad uses in the medical, aerospace, and automobile industries, which have long sought lightweight materials with superior designs improved properties to improve performance. This analysis aimed prepare an AMMC investigate its machining mechanical properties. The is produced using a stir casting process by reinforcing boron carbide titanium aluminium 6082. material’s are studied wear test, hardness corrosion test. rate increases when load varying time speed as constant. It found that of material increased due reinforcement particle fabricated AMMC. Using pitting technique, occurs on under estimated at room temperature. In order illustrate characteristics metal matrix composite, Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) been used. experiments use L9 orthogonal Array Taguchi’s method ANOVA analysis. input parameters considered Traverse rate, Stand-off distance, Nozzle diameter. To find optimum value circularity, cylindricity, surface roughness varied parameters. respective graphs also plotted. Scanning electron microscopic was performed wear-tested specimen determine distribution reinforced fracture mechanism. tracks, voids, delamination, micro pits, embedded garnet abrasive particles located machined
